Poppy Dunbar is out on her hen night when she meets Tom Kennedy. With his dark eyes and quirky smile, he could lure any girl off the straight and narrow, but what really draws Poppy to him is the feeling that she’s known him all her life. She can’t go through with meeting the arrange – but she can’t go through with the wedding either.

Suddenly notorious as ‘The Girl Who Jilted Rob Macbride’, Poppy moves to London. Soon she installed in the bohemian household of Casper French, a ravishingly good-looking young artist with a reputation for breaking hearts. But even in her colourful new home, Poppy can’t get Tom off her mind. Until she tracks him down, she’ll never know if their meeting was destiny – or if the future hold something entirely different for her…

I really enjoyed this book. From the get go this book had be hooked and wanting to know more as each page was turned. Poppy was out on her hen night the night before her wedding when she met Tom – there was a connection there straight away and although she went to the late night cafe where he’d asked to meet her, she didn’t actually go in. The next day she breaks the news to the groom, Rob, that she doesn’t want to marry him. As this part of the story is unfolding, she learns that her Father isn’t actually her Father and her Mother had had a fling with a jazz player, so she decides to move to London to try and find her real Father.

She ends up moving into Casper’s house. Casper is an artist and a male tart who can have women flocking to him. There is also Claudia who lives in the house as well who doesn’t take to Poppy at all. Claudia’s Mother has tried to get across to her that she needs to find a rich man so basiclly she can live a life of luxury.

Before long Poppy tracks down her real Father who she finds out is a dying man. Poppy is heartbroken when he dies but at least she got to meet her real Dad even though he didn’t know who she was. What Poppy doesn’t know is that her Dad figured out on his death bed who she was and kept it to himself and didn’t say anything to his wife Rita. Rita and Poppy kept a close relationship and when at a house party and Rita is looking for some tights in Poppy’s things she found a picture of Poppy’s Mother and Rita is able to piece the last piece of the puzzle together – she had always know her husband had had an affair and after his death she found a picture of her tucked away in a book and now she has the proof that Poppy is her step daughter – a child that she’d always wanted.

Another reason for Poppy being in London was to try and track Tom down. She sees him one in a garage but was locked in the car so couldn’t get out, but with the help of her friends they track him down and it appears that there is such as thing as love at first sight. It all sounds rosey, so it came to no surprise when Tom started to come across as possessive and wanted Poppy to dress in a certain way and wanted her to give up work and be a house wife. She had a agreed to move in with him but that only lasted a couple of hours and was soon back on Caspers doorstep with her bags.

Poppy had given Casper a good talking to about his girlfriends’ and the amount of women that were always calling for him so he decided to tell his friends that he had got married – you find out later in the book when both Poppy and Casper realise that they love each other – that he had just made up that he was married to see if he could be committed to one woman for the rest of his life – turns out he can.

After a little help from their friends, who were trying to protect the two of them Casper and Poppy end up dating. The story ends with Casper and Poppy going out for the day, but she doesn’t realise that she’s heading straight to her own wedding to Casper. She wants to marry Casper and she has him proposing in the middle of the street before they go in. He says to her that he could risk her leaving him like she jilted Rob and like she ran away from Tom, so he didn’t want to give her time to think about.

I found this book really heart warming and there were some points where it had me in tears – really impressive in my eyes for a book! I give his book an overall rating of 9/10.

Have you read this book? Did you enjoy it as much as I did?

My Perfume Studio Experience

If you have read my #BloggerHalloweenParty post then you will know that The Perfume Studio were there to show and tell us all about making your own perfume.

Ben, from The Perfume Studio explained to us that perfume is made up of notes which is basically a top, a middle and a bottom. You can have as many or as little notes as you want so for me, I chose one of each – Fruity, Heavy Floral and Balsamic. Making up a scent was really fun and easy to do – you have all the scents lined up in front of you and you just start to build up your scent. Ben showed us how to smell each scent rather than putting it straight under your nose – what you’re meant to do is gradually bring it to your nose. And did you know if all the scents are starting to smell the same, you just has a little smell of some coffee beans and your ready to start again! How cool is that?!

When you have made your perfume, you get to name it! I decided to call my SJS which are my initials – only because I hadn’t a clue what to call it but I knew I wanted some short and easy to remember.

Once Ben had gone back to The Perfume Studio, I had an email with a certificate on to say that my perfume had been made and it was ready if I wanted to order it again! The first thing that come to mind, was I could actually buy my own perfume and give it out as Christmas presents!! You can buy the perfume by itself or buy it in gift sets.

The Perfume Studio also offer events, so you can visit them in certain areas around the UK to try out this whole experience for yourself – if you hear of one going near you, I would urge you to go. It was so much fun, so informative and you get to tell your friends and family that you made your own perfume and point them in the right direction to order it!!

Have you heard about The Perfume Studio – what did you think of your experience with them?

Holiday Wishlist

Well, It’s been just over a month since our last holiday and I’m already missing the sun on my skin, so what better way to get over a little bit of the winter blues that having a look at where I would like to go next!

  1. America – This one in itself is a big one! There’s so much to see and do there, so this one is definitely going to be on the list for a while! Not to mention all the food that has to be tried there!!
  2. Australia – I just want to see what the crack is! Everyone goes travelling there, so I’d like to see it for myself first hand. Andy also has family over there, so it would be nice to finally meet them!
  3. Singapore – This is an odd one for me as I’m picky with my food, I know I would struggle finding something I like, but it just looks so beautiful, that I’m willing to put all my food issues to one side to fly out over there.
  4. Jamaica –  Again, this is all down to the food again. One of my best friends is Jamaican and the food she cooks is amazing – I mean come on she has had me eating goat!
  5. Mexico – Pretty much all about food again! A Mexican restaurant is one of my favourite places to eat, so why not try the real thing.
  6. Kenya – I just want to see all the pretty animals in their own environment rather than being couped up in a cage over here.
  7. Canada – Winter is my favourite time of year, so I would have to visit Canada in the winter so I can see what real snow is like!
  8. New Zealand – My great uncle lived in New Zealand for most of his life and had his last visit  back home to the UK about 25 years before he passed away. He must of loved it over there, so I would love to go and see it for myself, visit the places he did and really see for myself if it’s just like the UK!
  9. Switzerland – I’ve never heard of many people going on holiday to Switzerland, so I think it would be exciting to go on an adventure where none of my friends have been before and find it all out for myself. After all you always get someone who tells you where you MUST go on every holiday!
  10. Iceland – I just want to see the Northern Lights. They look so pretty in the pictures and I want to witness this for myself.

So there you have it – my top 10 countries I’d love to visit! What countries are on your list? Have you visited any of mine?

To Do List: October 2016

Wow – where has October gone? I’m sure it was September just a moment go?! Looking back at my do list, it look like I’ve had quite a busy month, so it’s no wonder it’s flown by really!!

So, here’s what I was busy beavering away at:

  • Ibiza 2016 – As I’m sure most of you are aware, Andy and I went to Ibiza for 11 nights at the start of October. The hotel we stayed in was lovely and it was right on the beach front. It was so nice just to get away and spend some time just the two of us. You can read all about the holiday here. While we were away I took the opportunity to get my head into as many books as I could. I have written reviews on them on here too, so you can catch them on the below links if you have missed them:
  • At the end of September I decided to do my first ever giveaway on Twitter. I decided on a stationary one and got some lovely pieces from Sainsburys. The giveaway went really well and I have managed  to get over 200 followers in one month, which is a big deal for little old me!!
  • Like this post I did a review of September which can be found here.
  • I have always been a bit of a crafter and like to turn my hand to anything and recently I have fallen in love with decoupage all over again. I have made a couple of things for my new baby niece, something for a friend and then something for our house – you can find the post here to see all the pretty things I have made over the last couple of months.
  • I aimed to get 680 followers on Twitter and finished the month with a whopping 795!! Thank you to all of you who have followed and stuck around!!
  • Blog views, I had aimed myself to get 780 views and finished the month with 1060 views! Looking back I think I must have been a bit kind to myself on this goal so I will certainly up my target for November!

That’s all for now. How was your October? Did you manage to complete all of your goals and to do lists?

Blogger Halloween Party

I’m sure most of you have seen the posts and all the photos from Kirsty Leanne‘s #bloggertikiparty earlier this year. This was my first event (you can read about it here)and I loved it so I knew as soon as the next one was released I had to get my name down on the list pretty sharpish if I wanted to go! I mean I had it on my to do list and everything!!

For this event Kirsty Leanne had the help of Ashton Jade, both of who had absolutely lovely people and awesome bloggers. It was held in a different place from last time but being in the middle of the jewellery quarter in Birmingham, the Rose Villa Tavern  wasn’t too hard to find!

As it was a Halloween party everyone was dressed up the nines and there were some pretty amazing outfits and jaw dropping make up!

There weren’t as many brands there as the last party but I have to say quality over quantity any day, the brands there were so lovely and I can’t wait to test out their products.

The first brand we got to see was The Perfume Studio and you basically got to make up your own perfume and give it a name. It was a brilliant way to find out how perfumes are made and how you can build up the notes to make your own unique smell – there will be a future post on this in more detail!!

Then we got to see Dr. Botanicals who are a sister company of Organic & Botanic who I have previous done a post on one of their products before – you can find the link here. They were so informative and also gave us all a little card which says what sort of product you should be using for your skin type! Perfect for me who will generally try anything to see if it works!! For me, I love these products purely on the packaging alone! All the products come in a little brown box and the product itself is in a glass jar which keeps the product nice and cool when you apply it.

Kirsty and Ashton also put on some extra competitions such as designing the best pumpkin, pulling the scariest face and there was also a little treasure hunt going on as well. The raffle also had some amazing prizes – one of which I won which was kindly donated by Ohkay-Dohkay.

I have got some posts coming shortly on some of the times which were donated and also given away in the goodie bag.

There were also some homemade treats from Jamie at Tanned Beauty Addict which were just amazing

Did you go to this Blogger Halloween Party? What was your favourite bit?
